Tira Pandolf, PhD
Tira Pandolf, PhD, Managing Editor of Search & Summary (S&S), has been working in the health technology evaluation industry for the past 7 years. Throughout her career, she has taught and researched the role of dietary fiber in lowering cholesterol levels and dietary fiber’s interaction with phytoestrogens.
Dr. Pandolf’s responsibilities include managing the S&S product line as well as editing and writing S&S reports. The S&S reports are designed to give the client a quick overview, or picture, of the published, peer-reviewed literature on one specific technology, for one specific condition, and for one specific population. The goal of the S&S reports is to determine whether there is enough published literature, of the proper scope and quality, to graduate the topic of the S&S report to an advanced report (Hayes Health Technology Brief or Medical Technology Directory report) that involves an in-depth analysis of the evidence.
Before joining Hayes in 2001, Dr. Pandolf spent 3 years at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She held several positions during her career there, including Undergraduate Director of the Food Systems and Technology program, Undergraduate Director of Field Experience for the Food Systems and Technology program, and Assistant Professor in the Food and Nutrition Department. Dr. Pandolf was honored with two Outstanding Teacher awards within her first and second years at the University.
Dr. Pandolf holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in animal science from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and a doctorate degree in food science from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
