Health Technology Briefs
Health Technology Briefs (HT Briefs) address a wide variety of health technologies, with a focus on emerging technologies that are in early stages of dissemination or existing technologies that are being used for new applications, and for which there is a limited body of peer-reviewed, published evidence. Generated in response to client requests, these concise health technology assessments offer a critical analysis of clinical trial data, along with information regarding safety issues, coverage policies from the private and public sectors, regulatory approvals, consensus statements, and an overall projection of the potential clinical and economic impact of the technology.
HT Briefs evaluate the safety and efficacy of a wide range of medical devices, drugs, biologics, procedures, diagnostic tests, surgical implants, imaging equipment, behavioral health diagnostics and therapies, complementary and alternative medicine, and preventive and public health strategies. Each HT Brief includes a Hayes Rating and the Health Technology Profile.
The Health Technology Profile outlines 15 categories of important information presented in an easy-to-read checklist format. Each Profile category includes a ranking and conclusions which provide additional information about the impact of the technology on provider facilities, staffing, and other resources.
The literature search for every HT Brief report is updated annually, ensuring that the reports provide the most current information available. Reports are reviewed and revised as appropriate when significant new data are published.
