Medical Technology Directory

Medical Technology Directory reports are health technology assessments that evaluate technologies for which there are a number of published clinical trials and a substantial body of evidence. Designed to support evidence-based policies and guideline development, each report provides a critical appraisal of the clinical evidence, with logical, clear, and transparent conclusions about the safety and efficacy of the technology, and appropriate patient selection criteria.

Directory reports include a Hayes Rating for each application of the technology addressed in the report, with specific attention to the use of the technology in different patient populations.

The wide range of technologies analyzed in Directory reports include imaging equipment, surgical implants, medical devices, tests, drugs and biologics, behavioral health diagnostics and therapies, complementary and alternative medicine, and preventive and public health strategies. Some technologies are new, some have been in use for a few years, and some have been available for many years but questions remain.

The literature search for every Directory report is updated annually, ensuring that the reports provide the most current information available. Reports are reviewed and revised as appropriate when significant new data are published.
