TASC
The Hayes Technology Acquisition Supported by Clinical evidence (TASC) Force is a team of medical research analysts and consultants who are dedicated to helping hospitals develop and execute an evidence-based technology acquisition process. This approach to technology acquisition involves a systematic evaluation of the clinical evidence regarding the efficacy, safety, and financial impact of a technology before it is used in the hospital.
Members of the TASC Force partner with hospital decision makers at every stage of the process; these stages involve needs assessment, formation of a technology assessment committee, evaluation and enhancement of existing systems, and maintenance of a high-functioning system. These services and products represent a “Toolbox” that clients can access as needed, and include:
- A self-assessment form that hospitals can use to evaluate what they are currently doing to manage new technology acquisition.
- Training sessions on health technology assessment and how to set up an evidence-based technology acquisition process.
- Templates for the basic documents needed to support an evidence-based technology acquisition process.
- A Clinical Evidence Review service developed specifically for use by Technology Assessment Committees (TACs); this on-demand service provides a systematic summary of the clinical evidence and other relevant operational data for technologies under review by a hospital’s TAC.
Hayes can also support special projects such as financial impact analysis, comparative effectiveness studies for competing technologies, and development of evidence-based guidelines and standards, among others.
