Genetic Test Evaluations
Genetic Test Evaluation reports are evidence-based health technology assessments of genetic tests across a range of conditions and applications. Each report provides a clear, objective view of the science behind a specific genetic test, the clinical evidence supporting the test, and the use of the test in clinical practice. These reports can help to guide decisions about whether a hospital should develop or contract for specific genetic tests.
In each GTE report, a systematic approach and rigorous methodology is used to answer the following fundamental questions about the genetic test:
- Is there sufficient evidence to establish analytical validity?
- Is there sufficient evidence to establish clinical validity?
- Is there sufficient evidence to establish clinical utility, and, if so, what are appropriate patient selection criteria?
GTE reports include a Hayes GTE Rating for each application of the technology addressed in the report, with specific attention to the use of the genetic test in different patient populations.
The literature search for every GTE report is updated annually, ensuring that the reports provide the most current information available. Reports are reviewed and revised as appropriate when significant new data are published.
