In my previous post, I introduced the topic of DTC genetic tests. Today, I will reflect on my personal experience with these tests. In 2008, I enrolled in the Navigenics Scripps study. This study allowed individuals to purchase the Navigenics DTC test for a fraction of the cost in exchange for answering pretest and posttest questionnaires.
In the fall of 2010, in preparation for a webinar on DTC genetic tests, I also purchased the 23andMe DTC test. My goal was to compare my results between the two companies and also compare findings to my family history. So first some basics:
