Michelle Ostrander, PhD

Scientific Director, Evidence Analysis

As Scientific Director, Dr. Ostrander has oversight of the development and editorial review of health technology assessments and comparative effectiveness reviews and provides guidance to the scientific analyst team. Dr. Ostrander has written and edited over 200 health technology assessments or comparative effectiveness reviews. She has over 15 years of experience in the healthcare field, including evidence evaluation, analysis, and synthesis; leadership and management; scientific/medical writing and editing; development and presentation of skills training and professional education programs; systematic searches of medical literature, evidence-based medicine, and regulatory databases; and preclinical and secondary research. She has developed and presented numerous educational programs for Hayes staff and clients.

Prior to joining Hayes, Dr. Ostrander served as a medical program manager at a continuing medical education (CME) company and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. She received research service award grants from the National Institutes of Health that supported her graduate and postgraduate work. She has nearly twenty publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as chapters, abstracts, and oral presentations at scientific conferences. Dr. Ostrander earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and her BS in Psychology at the Ohio State University.
